Freight Rule - Australia Post
This freight rule allows the website to generate a freight
cost on an order based on Inzant sending the order information to Australia
Post and receiving a cost to ship the order. The freight rule is configured on
the “Checkout Shipping” widget to display on the front end website, and both
account and public users can have different rules configured as required.
International standard, International Express, Domestic
Standard & Domestic Express Australia Post freight rules are all supported.
Should more than one option be configured the user will be able to swap between
the rules with radio buttons, and check the cost with an “estimate” button.
Data Requirements
This freight rule relies on the product
dimension and weight data being accurate to generate a cost, meaning all products
should have a weight, height, width and depth stored.
This freight rule “boxes” the order into
standard boxes, meaning a standard set of shipping box sizes will need to be
provided to Inzant to configure the rule correctly.
The following
attributes are available for each rule;
Weight
Factor
Volume
Factor
Please
note that increases applied by the factors are not always linear as it could
cause the order to “jump” into larger box sizes which require a much greater
volume and increased cost. This is CMS configured and can be refined as
required.
A “Default” postcode can be implemented on each different
freight rule (Standard Domestic, Express Domestic etc.). This means when a user
enters a postcode that doesn’t exist in the AusPost database (i.e. they mistype
the postcode and include letters) then it will use the default postcode.
Typically this will be a postcode that is expensive to ship to so as to
guarantee covering unknown freight costs.
