Freight Rule - Order Total by Postcode

Freight Rule - Order Total by Postcode

This freight rule is designed to allow you to modify the freight charges in your system on a postcode by postcode basis, whilst also allowing you to create a “cover all” charge that will apply to postcodes you haven’t created rules for. This rule doesn’t apply in conjunction with other freight rules. The following attributes are applied to each individual rule (postcode);

  • A minimum freight charge
    • Every order raised within this postcode attracts the minimum freight charge by default.
  • A maximum freight charge (cap)
    • When the total of the order causes the % charge figure to exceed the min freight value, then the % charge applies to the order.
  • Percentage based freight charge
    • When the % charge figure exceeds the Max freight value then the Max freight value applies to the order – this is effectively a freight cost “cap” on the order.

See below 3 example orders based on the below attributes on a freight rule;

  • Min freight value $15.00
  • Percentage Charge 10 %
  • Max Freight Value $100.00

A “Default” rule can be implemented by assigning values to a rule with the postcode 0000. This freight rule will then be applied to any cart where the user enters a postcode that no rule currently exists for (this acts as a coverall solution to ensure freight is always included on the cart).
